Meet a scientist: Anna Heintz, Microbiologist

What is it about ?

This 2 min 50 sec video is an interview of Anna Heinz, microbiologist at the University of Luxembourg (especially at the Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine (LCSB)). In German (subtitled in English), Anna explains what her job consists in: exploring micro-organisms and bacteria, and what role they play in our lives and how we could use them, for curing cancer for instance. During the interview you can see Anna performing her everyday tasks in her laboratory or with a computer, but also playing the cello during her free time.

How to use it ?

Use this resource in biology lessons or counselling sessions to illustrate girls the concrete activities of a researcher in biology and to show the societal value of such a job. The video also shows that people working in this field can have a real work-life balance.
