What is it about ?
The EU Code Week is a citizen initiative that aims to teach programming and digital literacy to everyone in a fun and engaging way. Primary schools can participate via unplugged coding activities to teach students critical and computational thinking, problem solving skills, and the hows and whys of coding. All these skills can be later implemented when sitting at the computer writing code.
How to use it ?
The exercise sheets can be used all at once or during individual and shorter sessions to accommodate the school programme. Additionally, the teachers are invited to discuss gender through the history of coding; We suggest that the practical exercises are mixed with anecdotes that the children can relate to or stories about the first computer and the first programmers (surprise, they were women!).
